Grants from the Committee on Outreach

Dear Grant Seeker,

Each year, The Presbytery of the Western Reserve disburses grants through its Outreach Committee to churches and programs that serve the community. We are specifically looking to support projects that address the call in Matthew 25:31-46; to feed the hungry, offer drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe those in need, and care for the sick and imprisoned. In addition to the perpetual needs Jesus identified, we are also interested in programs that address the goals of the PC(USA) Matthew 25 Initiative:  eradicating systemic poverty, dismantling structural racism, and building congregational vitality.  If you are unsure if your grant fits into our Matthew 25 goals please contact the Outreach Committee for more information.

If you are interested in applying for a grant, you will want to know this:

  • Our geographic area is Northeast Ohio, specifically these counties: Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, and Summit. A subset of our grants may go to international projects.

  • The majority of our grants are $1,000 to $3,000.

  • You don’t have to be a church or religious organization to apply.

  • New projects or established projects hoping to go in a new direction will receive priority consideration.

  • If you get a grant (Yeah!!), we will check in with you and request a simple written status update and perhaps an in-person (or in-Zoom) report at the end of the grant period.  This information will help us celebrate the good work that you are doing.

  • The application deadline is June 30, 2023.  Funds will be disbursed in August, 2023.

Thank you for your interest. We see this as a great opportunity to partner with our neighbors and community.  We look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,
The Committee on Outreach (outreach@preswes.org)

Committee on Outreach Grant Application

The bottom of this form is an electronic signature that is to be completed by the organization executive. You are not able to save your progress on this form and return to it—you must complete it in a single session.

This means that the executive will need to be present to submit the form, whether or not they are the one filling out the majority of the form. If this form is completed by someone other than the organization executive, we recommend completing the questions in a word processing document and then copying and pasting the responses in to the form below to submit at a time when the executive is available to sign off on the form.

Note: You may complete the form below to submit your application, or if you wish, you can get a PDF of the application questions here and create a word processing document using Google Docs, Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, etc. (no Pages documents, please) containing your answers to the questions, and email that document to Josh at jdaum@preswesres.org.
